Graduation from Atlas Preparatory Academy requires a minimum of twenty-five (25) credits with a distribution in specific areas.

A student’s grade level is determined by the number of credits earned prior to the start of each school year. Credits are earned when a student completes a course and receives a passing grade along with the recommendation of the teacher.

Course Requirements: Atlas Preparatory Academy may not grant a high school diploma to any pupil unless the pupil has earned a minimum of twenty-five (25) credits with the following distribution:

1. English – 4 credits: Incorporates instruction in written communication, oral communication, grammar and usage of the English language, and literature. 0.5 credit of a public speaking course is required.
2. Social Studies – 3 credits: Incorporates instruction in state and local government. 0.5 credit of an American government course is required.
3. Mathematics – 4 credits: Incorporates instruction in the properties, processes, and symbols of arithmetic and elements of algebra, geometry, and statistics.
4. Science – 3 credits: Incorporates instruction in the chemical sciences, biological sciences, and physical sciences.
5. Physical Education – 1.5 credits: Incorporates instruction in the effects of exercise on the human body, health-related physical fitness, and activities for lifetime use.
6. Health Education – 0.5 credit: Incorporates instruction in personal, family, community, and environmental health.
7. Personal Finance – 0.5 credit: Incorporates instruction in financial awareness, responsibility, and independence.
8. College/Career Readiness – 0.5 credit: Incorporates instruction in preparation for post-secondary opportunities.
9. Electives – 8 credits

Twenty-five (25) credits and a passing score on a civics test comprising of 100 questions that are identical to the 100 questions that may be asked of an individual during the process of applying for U.S. citizenship by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services are required to graduate.
